Leading provider of secure, ephemeral and compliant messaging also adds persistent notifications to ensure delivery of critical communications
CHICAGO (PRWEB) October 16, 2017 — Vaporstream, a leading provider of secure, ephemeral and compliant messaging, today announced a new engagement module to help healthcare organizations securely contact patients by automating important communications and tasks associated with patient care. Based on an event in time, healthcare administrators can now pre-schedule a series of automated texts to patients that can serve as appointment, pre-and post-surgery, and medication/supply reminders; health motivations, chronic disease management and even discharge and follow-up care notices that can help reduce readmissions.
The engagement module, which will be commercially available in early November, will provide healthcare organizations with the ability to:
- Engage patients via personalized text messages that are event or procedure specific, providing important instructions and reminders and delivered at the precise time necessary for the patient to receive and take action.
- Brand all automated texts and provide a custom icon so that the patient can easily identify where the communication is coming from.
- Determine how replies are handled for each type of communication, i.e. Do not reply, inclusion into the patient record in the EHR, etc.
As with all Vaporstream messages, all communications are secure, ephemeral and can be archived to a repository of the client’s choice for compliance purposes.
Despite the annual cost of missed appointments in the United States reaching $150 billion, 88 percent of appointment reminders are still manually and unreliably communicated via landlines. In fact, care team members spend 1.5 to 2 hours a day on the phone calling patients. Automated patient outreaches and reminders allow providers to repurpose the time and focus on billable patient care activities. In addition, missed medical appointments negatively affect the continuum of care, as well, as administrators face challenges in rescheduling, clinician’s time is wasted not treating other patients, and the no-show patients experience a lapse in treatment. According to a study by the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, Center for Family and Community Medicine and the Columbia University School of Nursing, automated patient reminders reduce missed appointments by 34 percent.
“Vaporstream’s new patient engagement module was developed, in part, based on customer collaboration and feedback,” said Galina Datskovksy, CEO of Vaporstream. “As a result, we’ve developed a unique solution that removes the toil from overtasked medical professionals to ensure efficient, secure and compliant communications that also engage the patient with their own care.”
In conjunction with the automation capabilities added to Vaporstream’s secure messaging platform, text notifications can be set to persist until the user actually reads it. Particularly critical in healthcare and emergency response situations, persistent notifications ensure that alerts are delivered and the receiver does not miss an important communication.
“In matters of crisis, either man-made or at the hands of mother nature, it’s essential to confirm that notifications and reminders are received by the intended users,” added Datskovsky. “Whether it’s to notify a patient to stop taking their blood thinner before surgery, or to alert a community of a mandatory evacuation, Vaporstream eliminates miscommunication through persistent notifications.”
