Tai is a non-executive director of The Bank of China Limited, Singapore Airlines, NYSE Euronext, MasterCard Incorporated and Royal Philips Electronics NV (where he is chairman of the Audit Committee). He is also non-executive chairman of privately held Brookstone, Inc.

Tai was Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of both DBS Group Holdings and DBS Bank. Tai joined DBS as Chief Financial Officer in July 1999. DBS Bank is one of the largest financial services groups in Asia with a current market capitalization of $29 billion.

Prior to his appointment at DBS, Tai was an investment banker for 25 years with J.P. Morgan & Co. Incorporated. Tai serves as a trustee of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a director of the Committee of 100. He is a member of the Harvard China Advisory Group, Harvard Business School Asia-Pacific Advisory Board, and Harvard Business School Board of Dean’s Advisors. In April 1996, Tai was appointed to a 17-member White House Commission on United States-Pacific Trade and Investment Policy.

Tai received his Master in Business Administration in 1974 from Harvard University where he was a recipient of a COGME fellowship. He graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.
